Wesley Block

Mr. Wesley J. Block of Fredonia passed away at his home early Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022. He was 90 years old.

Wesley was born in the Town of Farmington on Oct. 25, 1931, the son of Peter and Crena DeSchmidt Block. He grew up in Cascade and attended local schools, graduating from Plymouth High School, Class of 1949.

On July 10, 1965, Wesley was united in marriage with Janet Kuhn at Elm Grove Lutheran Church. The couple moved to Fredonia in 1971 and began their hobby farm.

Mr. Block worked as a lineman with Wisconsin Electric for 20 years before farming full time. He also drove a school bus for Riteway and Johnson Bus for 20 years.

Wes loved riding horses and truly enjoyed all of the animals on their family hobby farm. In younger years, he and Janet enjoyed camping and fishing. More recently, they enjoyed going on vacations.

Mr. Block was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Fredonia. He served on the Board of Elders for over 40 years and taught Sunday School for many years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Janet, sister-in-law Ella (the late Arlyn) Block, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Arlyn and Jerome (the late Lorraine) Block and sisters Madelyn Vanderkin and Catherine Kruschke.

 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, at St. John Lutheran Church, 824 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia. Pastor Marshal Frisque will preside.

The family will receive guests at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Wesley will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cascade, at a later date.
