Jim Bennett

Mr. Jim Bennett of Saukville, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away early Tuesday morning, Sept. 22, 2021, at Beechwood Rest Home, where he had been residing. He was 74 years old.

William was born in Milwaukee on Sept. 13, 1947, the son of Walter and Rita Stier Bennett.  

He attended local schools before enlisting in the US Air Force, where he achieved the rank of sergeant.

On Aug. 26, 1972, Jim was united in marriage with Catherine “Katie” Brzezinski at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Saukville in 1975.

Katie preceded Jim in death in 2000.

Mr. Bennett was a member of Divine Savior Parish, where he was a former parish council member of Immaculate Conception.

He had been a cabinet maker with DCI Marketing in Milwaukee and retired when his health began declining in the early 2000s.  

Jim loved gardening and was very proud of his yard. He would frequently help neighbors with projects. Jim liked watching football (sometimes loudly cheering or expressing his opinion on the play), and loved his cats. He also volunteered at the Ozaukee Humane Society in Saukville.

He is survived by one brother, John Bennett, and sisters Elaine Roberts, Barbara Koehler, Lois Leedy, Susan Lewis and Patricia Peterson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Katie and sister Judith Scalish.

There will be a short visitation at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 9400 W. Donges Bay Rd., Mequon, on Friday, Oct. 1, from 11 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed by a Liturgy of the Word service at 11:30 a.m. presided by Father Karl Acker.

After military honors are rendered, Jim will be laid to rest beside his wife.

Memorials, if desired, may be directed towards Ozaukee Humane Society.
