Village to flush its hydrants next month

Hydrant flushing will occur in the Village of Fredonia on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through the end of August.

Residents may notice some discoloration in their water at times. If so, it is suggested they run their cold tap for three or four minutes until the water runs clear.

It is suggested to not do laundry on those days or until after water runs clear from the faucet.

Hydrant flushing is an important preventive maintenance activity that ensures adequate water flow will be available if the need for firefighting arises. It also removes sediment that naturally accumulates in water pipes. The temporary discoloration only affects the appearance of the water and does not cause a health or safety risk.
