Kewaskum woman dies of injuries from Highway 33 crash

A 68-year-old Kewaskum woman died last week of injuries she sustained in a head-on collision on Highway 33 near Singing Hill Road in the Town of Saukville.

According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, the crashed occurred shortly before noon Wednesday, July 8, east of Singing Hill Road. A westbound 2019 Dodge Challenger operated by Dominque Kazee, 34, of Milwaukee attempted to pass a semi-truck in a no-passing zone and struck head-on an eastbound 2018 GMC Acadia driven by Michael Strobel, 67, and in which Jane Strobel, 68, was a passenger.

Kazee was transported by West Bend Ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton for non-life-threatening injuries.

Michael Strobel was transported by Newburg Ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend for non-life-threatening injuries.

Jane Strobel was transported by West Bend Ambulance to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa where she died of her injuries early Thursday, July 9, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

A portion of Highway 33 was closed for about 80 minutes while an investigation was conducted. 

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office investigated the incident with the assistance from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Newburg Fire and Rescue and West Bend Fire and Rescue.

The crash is still under review, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.
