Melvin G. Krick

Melvin George Krick, age 97, passed away Friday morning, July 3, 2020, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon.  

Melvin was born on May 31, 1923, in Port Washington, Wis., the son of Alfred and Leona (nee Peters) Krick.

On April 30, 1958, he was united in marriage with his wife Lorraine (nee Thelen) Krick at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grafton.

Melvin was a resident of New Berlin until relocating to Ozaukee County in 1993.  Melvin and his wife Lori lived in Grafton and in Cedarburg at Lasata Heights and Crossings.  

Melvin served and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Air Force.  During World War II, he was a second lieutenant in the 15th Army Air Force and flew 33 missions over Europe as a bombardier in a B-24.

 Melvin was a member of the Menomonee Falls American Legion Post 382 and later the Cedarburg Peter Wollner Post 288.  

He spent many years working as a metallurgical engineer at Ladish Co. In his free time, Melvin enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as selling items of all interests on eBay. Melvin was an avid reader, even finishing books in a couple days shortly before his passing. He also had a love of dogs and truly cherished the time spent discussing history with his grandson Michael Carini.

 Melvin is survived by his children William Krick of McFarland and Susan Carini of Cedarburg.

He is further survived by one grandson, Michael Carini, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine “Lori” Krick; brother Albert (Dorothy) Krick; sisters Vivian (Tony) Skeris and Doris (George) Kalk; sisters-in-law Marge “Gene” Bohlen and Marcie (Skip) Eernisse; and brother-in-law Ralph (Laura) Thelen.      

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, WI 53012. Father Al Veik will officiate.

The family will receive visitors from 9:30 a.m. until the service at 11:30 a.m.
