Scouts put a shine on Port’s hidden gem

Taking advantage of a great day to be outside, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts from Port Washington received an introduction to the Birchwood Hills Nature Preserve, which is often described as the hidden gem of Port Washington’s park system, and pitched in to remove invasive plants and tend trees by removing trunk protectors on Saturday, June 27. Getting a tour of the preserve from Derek Strohl, a member of the city’s Environmental Planning Committee (left in top photo), were (from left) Callahan Marchek, Noah Leinss, Charlie Meyer, Logan Hill, Wyatt Behrndt, Caleb Winker and Dylan Yass.
