Three-vehicle crash in town injures four

A three-car crash in the Town of Saukville on Friday, June 19, sent four people to the hospital after a driver failed to yield the right of way and was struck by an oncoming car.

According to an Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office press release, Pamela Tripp, 74, of Grafton was southbound in a 2017 black Volkswagen Passat on Highway W at about 4:30 p.m. Friday when she attempted to make a left turn onto East Sauk Road.

Authorities said Tripp failed to yield the right of way to a northbound 2010 gray Chrysler Town and Country mini-van driven by Melissa Konitzer, 36, of Port Washington, who had two child passengers.

The Chrysler struck the Volkswagen, causing it to spin and sideswipe a 2004 blue Toyota Corolla operated by Rachael Schroer, 19, of Grafton. Schroer was not injured.

Tripp was taken by a Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

She was cited for failure to yield the right of way.

Konitzer and her two passengers were taken to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton for treatment of minor injuries.

The intersection of Highway W and East Sauk Road was shut down for approximately one hour following the accident.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in responding to the accident by the Saukville Police Department, Saukville Fire Department and Port Washington Fire Department.
