LETTER: Bells with deep meaning to many should stay in Lake Church
To Ozaukee Press:
Thank you for printing the article The Bells of St. Mary’s about St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church. This was the church in which I received my first Holy Communion, made my first confession, was confirmed and exchanged my wedding vows. My parents and many relatives, as well as neighbors, are buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery. This is the church in which I began my Catholic upbringing and schooling.
The bells are a reminder of the importance of our faith, a symbol of years of worship and memories. These bells belong to the parishioners of St. Mary’s.
Thank you Bob Hubing for fighting to keep the bells at their original location. A memorial in the parish cemetery would be quite fitting.
