Village employees could see 2% pay raise

Village of Belgium employees will receive a 2% increase in pay next year if the Finance and Personnel Committee’s recommendation is approved by the Village Board.

The committee approved the pay bump on Monday. It’s the same amount that employees received this year.

In addition, the village clerk’s salary would be increased by more than $2,500 due to certifications required.

The salary increases impact Belgium’s four salaried and three hourly employees, as well as a seasonal hourly employee.

The additional pay means the general fund expenditures would total $182,000, up from a projected $179,363. The committee recommended those expenditures.

In related actions, the committee made recommendations for general fund revenues and the tax incremental finance district (TID) and debt service budgets.

The proposed general revenue budget is $927,218, which includes nearly $150,000 left over from the Main Street reconstruction project. That money is slated to be used for the Chestnut Street project.

The proposed debt service budget is $901,385. The proposed TID budget is $1.013 million.

The budgets will be discussed at a Committee of the Whole meeting in which the Village Board addresses issues as a committee. That meeting is tentatively scheduled for Monday, Oct. 7.
