LETTER: Youth football gets new field with help from Gridiron Club

Financial assistance from the Grafton Gridiron Club (GGC) will help offset some of the costs incurred by the Grafton Gladiators in moving to a new practice area at Zaun Field in the Town of Grafton.

The youth football program had lost its practice field at Kennedy Elementary School due to construction associated with building improvements authorized by the Grafton School District referendum. The GGC contribution of $20,000 was made in a check presentation during the group’s annual golf outing.

The Gladiators program is planning to make improvements at Zaun Field, including a building, field irrigation and portable lights for night practices.

The Gridiron Club was formed 15 years ago by two Grafton High School alumni and former football players who wanted to give back to the programs that aided their successes. The organization helps offset some of the high costs of football by providing financial assistance to the high school and youth football programs.

At this summer’s golf outing, the GGC inducted the first members of its hall of fame—former GHS football coach Kip Cramer and founding GGC members Tom Garrity and David Gromacki.
