LETTER: Vets outing again the ‘nicest day’

To Ozaukee Press:
Thank you to all who made the Disabled Vets Fish Outing a success in spite of the rain. While the 76 disabled veterans were unable to fish, they still had the opportunity to come to Port Washington and spend the morning playing bingo for prizes and then enjoy an old-fashioned fish boil and cookout along with fabulous homemade desserts. The vets all said they had a great time, even without the fishing.
Our committee would like to thank the boaters, contributors, cooks, bakers, servers and volunteers for all they provided. Without all of you volunteering, we could not hold this great event.
We are also grateful to others who helped us, including: Adam Draeger and the staff of Inventor’s Brewpub for working with us throughout the day; Gopher One for its contributions; members of the sports teams of Port Washington High School who helped the vets; students who decorated table coverings and painted rocks for the vets; and Christ the King Lutheran Church for the use of their facilities to do food prep work.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this 46th annual outing live up to its reputation as Port Washington’s “nicest day.”
