Tree City USA, here Belgium comes

The Village of Belgium had an autumn blaze pear tree planted in Community Park on Saturday in observation of Arbor Day. Planting a tree, along with spending at least $2 per resident on forestry care — a total of $4,500 for Belgium — will meet the requirements to earn Tree City USA designation next year. The village last fall determined it already regularly meets the spending requirement. Posing with the tree were (from left) Village President Pete Anzia, Director of Public Works Dan Birenbaum and trustees Victor Lecato, Clem Gottsacker and Don Gotcher. Photo by Sam Arendt
