Port gymnasts are sticking it

The Port Washington High School gymnastics team had some ups and downs at the Winter Wonderland Invite at Menomonee Falls last Saturday, but one event was consistent.

The Pirates again excelled on vault. Julia Greisch scored an 8.0, followed by McKenzie Rick’s 7.8 and Emma Bollech’s 7.6.

The Pirates scored a total of 109.9 points to take seventh of nine teams.

Floor routines were some of the best coach Gale Sigler has seen this season with “stronger tumbling and better execution.”

Elaina Makoutz had a 7.9. Greisch had a 7.5. Kenzie Stevens and Bollech each had a 7.375.

On Jan. 19 at the Valders Invite, Port took fourth of eight teams.

Greisch scored a 7.8 on beam, followed by Bollech’s 7.35.

On vault, Greisch had an 8.1, Rick a 7.95 and Makoutz a 7.275.

Port competes at West Bend East on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
