LETTER: Crowley: for abortion choice but against education choice
To Ozaukee Press:
In the gubernatorial debate, David Crowley made it clear that he supports the decision of a mother and the physician of her choosing to abort a later term fetus. He also stated that he opposes any expansion of Wisconsin’s school voucher program and ultimately hopes to reduce the number of students who may apply.
I am shocked that he is unable to trust parents to make wise educational decisions. He freely endorses the choice of abortion but will absolutely constrict choice for a child’s education.
Such inconsistency is intellectually dishonest and indefensible. Wisconsin does not deserve a governor who mistrusts the judgment of parents who seek better schooling opportunities.
Our substantial tax revenue and budget surplus clearly should be allocated for the support of families seeking school vouchers. Well educated children are undeniably vital for the growth and prosperity of our state; no governor should attempt to strangle the chance for a better education in the critical K-12 years.
