Beautiful cars on Port’s beautiful lakefront

The fourth annual Concours Car Show to benefit Mel’s Charities brought a large collection of classic cars, many of them quite rare, and a crowd of automobile enthusiasts to Coal Dock Park in Port Washington on Sunday, Aug. 16. With the city lighthouse in the background, Steve Bringa sat behind his 1959 Austin Healy sports car (top). Christine and Gregg Hotson (background) brought their classic Kissel to the show (middle left). Kissel Motor Car Co. was founded in Hartford and in addition to cars made hearses, fire trucks and taxicabs. Ron Frank leaned on his meticulously detailed 1936 Rolls-Royce (middle right) while Alice Preston and Mike Wingate stood by a pair of Excaliburs, including a blue 1965 Excalibur Bugatti. Preston owns Camelot Classic Cars Inc. in Milwaukee, which supplies Excalibur parts, and Ecurie Excalibur, which owns the intellectual property, parts molds and records for cars made by Excalibur Automotive Corp. The show is a fundraiser of the Ozaukee County nonprofit organization Mel’s Charities, which has donated more than $1.3 million to local charities since 1999.                                     Photos by Sam Arendt
