LETTER: Months of street work taking toll on food pantry and store

To Ozaukee Press:

Construction in our Grafton area has been underway since May and is expected to continue through the end of October. We know it has created frustration and inconvenience for our community. We know the work needs to be done and we support that fact—and we get frustrated too.

This project has created extra work for us and has created additional challenges like cut phone lines that impacted communications for two weeks. Yet through it all, our customers, donors and pantry clients have continued to find their way to us. For that, we are incredibly grateful.

Our resale boutique helps to fund our food pantry, so when store sales decline, it directly affects our ability to provide pantry services across Ozaukee County. We saw a decline in sales in July, and we’re concerned about the impact if that continues.

That’s why we’re asking our community to please keep supporting Family Sharing during this construction project. Keep shopping, donating and using our pantry services when you need us. Every purchase and donation makes a difference. If you haven’t been in before or in a while, we invite you to stop in. We will share construction updates when we get them, including access information and a map, on our website. Please check there before visiting for the latest information.

We thank our supporters for their patience, understanding and continued support. We know it isn’t always easy to get to us right now, and we truly appreciate every person who makes the effort.
