End in sight for delayed Highway 33 project

Replacement of a retaining wall, pavement, curb and guardrail on Highway 33 in the Town of Saukville has been delayed and is now scheduled to be completed this month. The $1.4 million project that started in spring was slated to be done in July. “The project encountered a conflict with fiber optic line that required three weeks to relocate,” state Department of Transportation construction project manager Kurt Flierl said. The new completion date is the third week of August. Zenith Tech of Waukesha is the contractor. The state is paying for the work. The detour route from the east has traffic turning north onto Highway I, west onto West Center Road, south onto Lakeland Road and back onto Highway 33.       Photo by Sam Arendt
