Sheriff’s Office to host its first National Night Out on Aug. 11

This year’s Ozaukee County National Night Out will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Belgium Community Park.

It will be hosted by the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office.

National Night Out is a countywide event that rotates between law enforcement agencies each year. Last year it was hosted by the Port Washington Police Department, the year before by the Mequon Police Department.

The Saukville Police Department will host the event in 2027.

This is the first time the Sheriff’s Office will host National Night Out.

National Night Out is an opportunity for families to meet deputies, police officers, firefighters, EMS providers, dispatchers and many of the other agencies and organizations that serve Ozaukee County  communities.

More than 1,000 people are expected to attend the free event.

Visitors will be able to explore emergency vehicles and specialized equipment, speak with public safety professionals, and learn about the services available throughout Ozaukee County.

Other highlights includes Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team members, Drone Team demonstrations, Blackhawk and Flight for Life helicopters, interactive activities for children and families, information booths hosted by community organizations and non-profit agencies, free hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches and drinks, and free sandwiches and sides provided by Mel’s Charity food truck

Nonperishable food donations for Family Sharing, the Ozaukee Food Alliance  and Port Washington Food Pantry will be accepted. Donors will receive a raffle ticket at the registration table.

“We encourage everyone to come out, meet your local first responders and enjoy a great evening together. Events like National Night Out help strengthen the relationships that make our community safer, stronger and more connected,” Sheriff Christy Knowles said.
