St. Mary’s Church tour is July 25 in Port
Local historian Kevin Wester will lead a tour of historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 26.
Those attending should meet in front of the church.
The tour will encompass the parish grounds as well as the interior of the church.
Built in 1882, St. Mary’s Church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is the third church building to serve the congregation.
Wester, who was born in Port and grew up in Belgium, co-wrote a history of the church for its sesquicentennial in 2003.
The free tour is hosted by the Port Washington Historical Society, St. John XXIII Catholic Parish and Luxembourg Legacy.
