Winners of plein air contest announced

The winners of the Cedarburg Cultural Center’s 23rd annual Youth Plein Air Art Contest have been announced.

The artwork was judged by Janann Miller, who has more than 30 years of experience teaching art in the Whitefish Bay School District. She is a professional working artist and a longtime member of the Cedarburg Artists Guild.

The People’s Choice Award went to “Ashley’s Candy Store” by Adelie Eggert, 12.

First place in the 5 and younger category went to “Birthday Cake” by Lily Johnson, 5. Second place went to “The First Day of Spring” by Harrison Grzesiak, 3.

Honorable mentions were given to “The Sunset Tree” by Major Flasch, 5; “QQ New Fortune” by JJ Phoa, 4; and “Rainbow Day” by Ainsley MacDonald, 5.

In the 6-to-8 year old category, first place went to “The Big Clock” by John Whaley,  8, and second place to “New Fortune But Better” by Mason Phoa, 7.

Honorable mentions went to “The Joy of the Clock” by Francesca Tozzi, 8; “Lake With Blue” by Rynadi Schreiner, 6; and “The Plant Garden” by Madison Flasch, 8.

First place in the ages 9-to-12 category went to “Ashley’s Candy Store” by Adelie Eggert, 12; and second place to “Family by the Pond” by Matthew Vanden Noven, 12.

Honorable mentions went to “Belle de Fleur” by Grace Cerda, 11; “Father’s Day at Lake Michigan” by Anika Voltz, 12; and “Old Farmhouse” by Violet McCurdy, 11.

In the 13-to-17 year old category, first place went to “Hummer Havens” by Charlie McCurdy, 13, and second place to “Ashley’s Confectionery” by Evelyn Eader, 13.

Honorable mention went to “A New Day” by Amelia Cerda, 14.

The youth plein air exhibit runs through Saturday, July 11, at the center, W62 N546 Washington Ave.

The center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
