Wishing their pastor well in retirement

Members of St. John XXIII Catholic Parish in Port Washington gathered at St. Peter of Alcantara Church in Port on Saturday, June 13, to celebrate longtime pastor, Father Pat Wendt, who is retiring at the end of the month. Wendt greeted parish members following Mass (top photo), posing for photos with some of them, including 7-year-old Nicholas Varga (right), and sneaking a taste of frosting from his cake before cutting it (far right). Wendt, who was ordained in 1979, came to Port in 2005 as pastor of St. Peter of Alcantara Church and remained as pastor after it merged with St. Mary’s Church in Port and Immaculate Conception Church in Saukville to form St. John XXIII Parish.
