Town handling junked cars in different ways

One Town of Belgium residence is being sent a letter threatening legal action if unregistered vehicles aren’t removed from the property. Another is cooperating with the town and is being given time.

The Town Board on Monday agreed to send a letter to 2084 Hwy. A to demand the removal of junked cars.

“It’s extremely unsightly,” Town Chairman Tom Winker said, adding neighbors have complained. The town tried to talk to the property owner.

“The nice approach isn’t working,” Winker said.

Vehicles must be cleaned up by the next Town Board meeting on July 6.

The owner of the property at 2331 Hwy. K won’t be getting a letter.

“He’s cooperating,” Supr. Tom Bichler said.
