Carter catches fire from three

Cedar Grove-Belgium High School senior basketball player Carter Schmitz was named the Most Valuable Player of the Sheboygan County All-Star Game on Saturday, May 23, at Sheboygan Christian High School.

Schmitz went 13-for-17 on three-pointers (76%) and scored 41 points.

“It was easy to get open shots with that good of players around you, and our whole team was consistently looking to dish off,” he said.

Schmitz played with teammates Owen Gulke and Thomas Wiesner.

“The game was awesome. It was a lot of fun playing with all those guys that I grew up playing against,” Gulke said.

“It was very fun overall,” Wiesner said. “Carter did good, especially for not shooting a ball since the season ended.”

“All three really represented us great,” Cedar Grove-Belgium coach Jake Hock said.
