Wendy K. Weber

April 18, 1953 - March 8, 2026

Wendy K. Weber of Port Washington, age 72, was born into eternal life on March 8, 2026, in Okeechobee, Fla. Wendy passed peacefully surrounded by her family.

She was born April 18, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Lorraine Gehrke (nee Inden) and Wilbur Gehrke.

Wendy was united in matrimony with the love of her life, James H. Weber, on May 18, 1974.

She was the mother to Rebecca (Peter) Chandler, Melissa Bergin (Ryan Thielke), and Jessica (Steven) Schaefer. Wendy was the beloved Grammie to her six lovebugs, Hailey Bergin (19), Gabe Chandler (18), JJ (Jackson) Bergin (17), Addie Chandler (17), Grant Bergin (14) and Felix Schaefer (9).

As the matriarch of the family, Wendy had a mantra, “A family that plays together, stays together.” The family often gathered for “Sunday dinner.” Her legacy lives on with close knit generations of grandparents, aunties, uncles and cousins.

Outside of spending time as a family, Wendy enjoyed camping, cruising and traveling, all sorts of fun in the sun and talking about and sharing pictures of her lovebugs. She was an avid finder of a good bargain and deal and couponer who enjoyed playing cards and spending time in the pool and happy hour with their camping crew and gang at their Florida winter home. Wendy volunteered her time for a local mental health hotline for more than 25 years. While her girls were growing up, she spent countless hours in their schools and as leaders of their Girl Scout Troops.

Wendy is now reunited with both of her parents, including her dad who passed unexpectedly when she was 10, and her sister Lynn Griffin.

Wendy was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor (NETs) cancer in 2020.  Wendy unknowingly came into contact with leigonella pneumonia (Legionnaires disease), which ultimately took her life.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are greatly appreciated.
