Buergbrennen is Saturday

Belgium’s annual event based on a Luxembourg tradition in which wooden pallets are set on fire by the town’s most recently married couple to burn away winter will be held Saturday, March 7, at Buechler Farms. The fire will likely get going around 5:30 p.m. but people are welcome to come at least an hour before to buy food and visit the market in the barn. The Belgium Area Chamber of Commerce will be selling Luxembourg-inspired dishes. The Cedar Grove-Belgium High School girls’ soccer team will sell hot cocoa and baked goods with proceeds going toward their trip to the Tournament of Champions in Iowa. Food trucks will be selling dishes and Buechler Farms will have a bar open in the pavilion. Press file photo
