Rec programs for kids, adults set in Port
The Port Washington Parks and Recreation Department is offering a wide variety of programs for adults and children this spring.
Junior golf includes five sessions at The Bog in the Town of Saukville during which students will learn pre-swing skills such as grip, aim, posture and set up, swing skills including club path, timing, tempo and balance, and short game skills.
Students should bring their own clubs, and each student will receive a participation gift.
The fee is $160 for City of Port residents and $175 for nonresidents.
Safe at Home will be offered at the Port Recreation Center from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 13.
The program for students in fourth to sixth grades will help them practice safe habits, learn to prevent unsafe situations and teach them what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures and weather emergencies.
They will also be introduced to the safe sitter first aid chart and learn to assess and respond to injuries and illness.
The fee is $40 for city residents and $55 for nonresidents.
A retirement planning class for adults will be held at the Recreation Center from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays from April 7 to 21 or from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays from April 11 to 18.
An online option will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays from March 17 to 31.
The class will include a consultation and financial plan as well as information on Social Security, estate planning, life planning and investments.
Each registration includes a textbook and informational materials, and each person may bring one guest.
The fee is $59.
Slow flow yoga will be offered at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays from April 29 to June 10, except for May 6..
The class combines breathing techniques, poses and movement sequences to help participants stay in the moment.
The class, held at the Recreation Center, is $75 for city residents and $90 for nonresidents.
Adult golf lessons will be offered at The Bog at 5 and 6 p.m. Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
The class, taught by a PGA professional, will work on fundamentals and short game skills.
The fee is $160 for city residents and $175 for nonresidents.
