The art of nature

Gallery 224 in Port Washington celebrated the work of artists Joseph Mougel (top) and Melissa Wagner-Lawler (above) during an ARTservancy reception on Friday, Feb. 20. Mougel’s botanical prints document leaves collected at Sidney Woods in Glendale. Wagner-Lawler’s letterpress prints were inspired by her time at the Biehl Nature Preserve in Farmington. ARTservancy is a Gallery 224 residency program that pairs artists with nature preserves. Next month, Gallery 224 will feature the work of Lesley Numbers and Sara Willadsen. A reception is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 13. Photos by Sam Arendt
