Indian boarding schools are topic for Feb. 17 talk

“Stories That Still Speak: A Personal Journey Through the Legacy of Boarding Schools” will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The talk, sponsored by the Port Washington Historical Society, will explore the history of Indian boarding schools in the U.S., particularly in Wisconsin.

The talk will be given by Kate Erickson, a member of the Oneida Nation and a faculty member at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where she teaches Native American, Wisconsin Indigenous, State of Wisconsin and early American history.

Erickson will share her family’s experiences with the boarding school system.

The talk will be in Edison Hall at Inventors Brewpub, 305 E. Washington St., Port Washington.
