December was quiet for village marshal

Village residents were largely behaving during the final month of 2025, save for a few parking scofflaws.

Village Marshal Leon Anzia told the Village Board this month that he issued 25 parking tickets in December.

“A couple of those were repeats,” he said. “This morning I got another one for the third time. They just don’t learn.”

Public Works Director Dan Birenbaum, whose department members were recently given authority to issue parking tickets while they’re snow plowing, said his department didn’t issue any.

Anzia said he sometimes takes calls from people who ask if vehicles can park on the street overnight since they will be hosting overnight visitors.

“As long as it’s not snowing. I said if it’s snowing, you’ve got to get them off the road,” Anzia said. “They’ve been pretty good about that.”
