Coloring contest to determine tree lighter

The Port Washington Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a youngster to light the city’s Christmas tree, and it is holding a coloring contest to decide who that will be.

The award-winning design will also be featured on Mayor Ted Neitzke’s Christmas cards.

All entries must be completed by children ages 12 and younger following a holiday theme.

The artwork must be created on an 8-1/2-by-11-inch piece of paper, and each design must include a tree.

Each piece of artwork must be accompanied by an entry sheet that can be accessed online at https://tinyurl.com/3pweazkh or in person at City Hall, 100 W. Grand Ave.

Entries may be dropped off at City Hall, 100 W. Grand Ave., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays or left in the Parks and Recreation Department drop box, 201 N. Webster St.  

Entries are due by 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1.

The winner will be announced during the city’s tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. Artists must be present to win.
