Legion Auxiliary hosts a special lunch for veterans

The Rose-Harms American Legion Auxiliary hosted 30 veterans from the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee recently for lunch at the Legion clubhouse in Grafton and a surprise for guests. Each veteran received a handmade quilt from Quilts of Thanks that was personalized with the veteran’s name, rank, branch of service and years served. One veteran saluted in a sign of thanks after receiving his quilt (lower). Auxiliary organizers said the event was a reminder that showing gratitude doesn’t always require grand gestures. Sometimes all it takes is a homemade quilt and good meal to remind others they are remembered.            Photos by Sam Arendt
