Riveredge official to study Lake Michigan

Riveredge Nature Center educator Alina Prahl will spend time aboard the Environmental Protection Agency’s research vessel Lake Guardian on Lake Michigan this summer.

Prahl will join the Center for Great Lakes Literacy staff and Great Lakes scientists from July 7 to 13.

Prahl, program manager at Riveredge Nature Center, oversees family and community educational programming at the Town of Saukville center and teaches environmental education for school, summer, evening and weekend groups.

“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity to travel around and get a better understanding of Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes, as well as explore the underwater archeology and history of Lake Michigan,” Prahl said.

“So much of what we will learn is pertinent to what we do here so I’m looking forward to incorporating that into our water programs at Riveredge.”
