Museum to accept exhibit entries, host programs in March

In addition to offering a number of program in March, the Cedarburg Art Museum will accept submissions for its 10th juried exhibition.

“The Life of Water,” challenges artists to create their interpretations of Earth’s most value element.

The show will be judged by professional artist Christine Buth-Furness.

The competition is open to Wisconsin artists who are at least 18 years old. For a list of rules and to submit entries, go to www.cedarburgartmuseum.org/callforart/.

Entries will be accepted through March  31. The exhibition will run from May 25 through Sept. 24.

Among the programs that will be offered at the museum in March is “Facial Expression Drawing” with Noora Badeen, which will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 7.

The free event is part of the High School Sketch program that offers teenagers age 12 to 18 the opportunity to learn from local professional artists.

All participants receive a free art kit to use for  High School Sketch programs.

For children ages four to 11, “Make Your Own Snuggle Slug” will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9.

The event begins with story time and is followed by an art project inspired by illustrations from children’s books that are currently featured in the museum’s on-going exhibit “Show & Tell: Six Wisconsin Children’s Book Illustrators.”

There is a $10 fee per child.

The museum’s 11th annual Art in the Burg at the Cedarburg High School’s Field House will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 16.

There will be over 70 local and regional artists selling their work, a silent auction of exhibitor artworks and a children’s art and activity booth.

Tickets will be available at the door for $5. Children under 12 attend for free.

Pabst Museum Lead Museum Assistant David Zeh will present “Bernard Schneider and the Milwaukee Panorama Painters” from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.

Wine, beer and other beverages will be available for purchase.

The event will be hosted on the museum’s first floor and is free for members. There is a  $10 for nonmembers.

Registration is required.

On Saturday, March 2, the museum’s second floor will be closed, making the  “Student Art Matters” and “Show and Tell” exhibits inaccessible.

The museum at W63 N675 Washington Ave. is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
