Aluminum cans collected for Habitat

An aluminum collection drive to benefit Habitat for Humanity Ozaukee is being held through Nov. 30.

The drive is a collaboration between Habitat for Humanity International and Novelis intended to boost aluminum recycling efforts and help construct more homes by providing $2,500 grants to participating Habitat affiliates.

The top recycler will be awarded an extra $6,000, the second-place recycler $4,000 and the third-place recycler $2,000.

Affiliates ranked from fourth to 10th place who collect at least 1,000 pounds of aluminum will receive a $500 bonus grant.

Aluminum cans may be dropped off at the designated area behind the Ozaukee Nonprofit Center, 2360 Dakota Dr., Grafton.

Companies interested in making industrial recycling donations are asked to follow their usual recycling process, noting the poundage being recycled, and after determining the value of the recycled aluminum sending a check to Habitat for Humanity Ozaukee at 2360 Dakota Dr., Grafton, WI 53024. Aluminum drive with the pounds recycled should be written in the memo line.

Habitat for Humanity Ozaukee is working to raise $200,000 to start its next home-building project in Port Washington in the fall of 2024.

Donors may also send checks to Habitat as part of its fall “Thankful-giving” campaign.
