Peter Moulds

Peter Jon Moulds, age 76, of Minocqua, Wis., formerly of Port Washington, Wis., and Milwaukee, Wis., passed away peacefully at Terova Senior Living Center/Allay Hospice in Mequon, Wis., on Thursday morning, May 12, 2022.

He was able to spend his last days near his family and friends. He remained positive throughout his two-year battle with cancer.

Peter was born in the Midwest to Claire (Christenson) and Lloyd Moulds on Jan. 19, 1946.

The family moved to New York when he entered high school. He attended the University of New Hampshire and graduated with degrees in chemistry and mathematics.

Peter started his working career in Manhattan, N.Y. He later came to Milwaukee (at that time, a leather capitol of the world). He became a leather chemist involved in the technology and sales of products used in the leather tanning industry. This job eventually required him to travel to many foreign countries.

Peter later became involved in the plastics and coatings industry. He was employed by Tekra ATG in New Berlin, Wis., as the business unit/technology manager.

For 10 years, Peter worked at his “retirement part-time job” at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Saukville, Wis., and sometimes West Bend.

In August 2016, he and his wife Cheryl Moulds sold their house in Port Washington and moved to their cabin in Minocqua. They enjoyed traveling the beauty of the northwoods, fishing and pontooning for almost six years.

Peter was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He was a talented handyman and did remodeling projects in all of his houses.

Peter was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and attended most of their games in his younger days. He enjoyed watching and attending Brewers games and also the Wisconsin Badgers and Marquette.

He loved social get-togethers. He had the ability to fit into any situation.

Peter was a former member of the American Chemist Association and the Society of Vacuum Coaters and a member of the Port Washington Yacht Club and Ozaukee Congregational Church. His faith kept him strong.

Peter was an amazing husband, devoted father and loving grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl and his children with his former wife Diane (Maher) (deceased), Erica Oswald of Okauchee, Wis., Kristen (Jeff) Croysdale of Glendale, Wis., and David Moulds of Milwaukee, Wis. He had six grandchildren, Mark, Andrew and Megan Oswald of Chicago and Max, Sam and Regina Croysdale of Glendale, Wis.

He is further survived by his sister Susan (Joe) Sweeney of Sarasota, Fla., brother-in-law Curtis (Deb) Gruenwald of West Bend, Wis., and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Peter was dearly loved and will be missed by family and friends. We will always remember him for the positive energy everywhere he went.

Peter’s celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at the Port Washington Yacht Club, 430 North Lake St., Port Washington, WI 53074. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., with a brief program beginning promptly at 6 p.m.  Please come and share your favorite memories and Pete stories.
