Michael Hrdlicka

Michael Leigh “Mike” Hrdlicka, 60, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, with his loving wife by his side.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1961, in Fort Belvoir, Va.

Although a resident of New Port Richey, Fla., he felt Wisconsin, and Port Washington especially, was home and where he’ll be laid to rest.

Mike served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was a staff sergeant, and then worked for many years for the United States Postal Service in Belleville, Ill.

He retired to southwest Florida, where he spent many years soaking up the sun and enjoying  the warm winters.

Family was most important to Mike. He enjoyed spending summers up at the cottage on Upper Gresham Lake in Wisconsin, camping and boating at Carlyle Lake and playing many sports, including golf, softball and bowling.

He was also a huge Green Bay Packers fan, passing his love for the team onto the next generations.

He was famous for his French toast and beer brats, which can never be matched.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert L. and Mary Lou (nee Soeffgen) Hrdlicka.

Surviving are his wife Heidi (nee Maggio) Hrdlicka, whom he married on Dec. 24, 2020; two children, Robert Hrdlicka of O’Fallon, Ill., and Ashley (Dan) McNutt of Treasure Island, Fla.; his former wife, lifelong friend and mother of his two children, Lisa Barttelbort; three bonus children, Ashley Simon, Victoria Simon and Lucien Labat; four grandchildren, Michael and Isabelle Hrdlicka and Ryan and Connor McNutt; two bonus grandchildren, Madison Hermes and Cora Roberts; his sister Theresa (Dale) Wisinski of Port Washington, Wis.; brother Lawrence (Dan) Hrdlicka-Wustrack of Milwaukee, Wis.; bonus sister Cristina Schultheis; his loving nieces and nephews; and his adoring canine companion Lucy.

A private family service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington, Wis., on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Mike will be put to rest near his mother and father, whom he has finally been reunited with in heaven.
