Longtime Fredonia Village Trustee Jill Bertram, who had planned on stepping down from the Village Board, is back on the board after receiving nine write-in votes in the spring election, more than any other write-in candidate.

Bertram was offered the position following the election, and she accepted. She was sworn in Tuesday night during the board’s annual organizational meeting.

Also sworn in were trustees Richard Abegglen and Joshua Haas, who were both unopposed in the April 7 election.

Bertram has served on the Village Board since 2008. Abegglen and Haas were first elected in 2018.

A seat remains vacant on the Northern Ozaukee School Board following the spring election.

Incumbents Jennifer Clark, School Board President Brent Neis and Kevin Klas were unopposed and were re-elected to seats representing the Village of Fredonia, Town of Saukville and Town of Fredonia, respectively.

School Board member Suzanne Miller resigned from her at-large seat on the board and was elected to represent the Town of Fredonia, leaving the at-large seat vacant. That seat could be filled by appointment of the School Board.

In the Town of Fredonia, incumbent Supr. Jim Stemper was re-elected, while John Depies was elected to replace longtime supervisor and former town chairman Rich Mueller.
