William E. Penkwitz
Port Washington native William E. Penkwitz died of complications of Alzheimer’s disease Sunday, March, 11, at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg. He was 85.
Mr. Penkwitz had been a resident of Harbor Cove in Port Washington and previously lived in West Bend.
He was born Dec. 23, 1932, to Harold and Lillian Zirbes Penkwitz.
When Mr. Penkwitz was in grade school, he and his family moved to Cedarburg.
He left high school during his senior year to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1954.
Mr. Penkwitz married Rita Uselding at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg on Jan. 14, 1956.
The couple operated the Myra Inn near West Bend for several years. Mr. Penkwitz also worked as a machinist at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac for 36 years.
He is survived by four sons, Mark of Belgium, Mike of Newburg, Matt (Debby) of Port Washington and Marty of Mayville, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his sister Marie.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rita, parents and one brother.
No funeral services were held.
