William Anthony “Bill” Greymont

William Anthony “Bill” Greymont, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, in Grafton, Wis., surrounded by those who loved him.

Born on Sept. 27, 1942, Bill dedicated his life to public service and family. He began his career in law enforcement, serving as a police officer in both Milwaukee and Port Washington. He later transitioned to Milwaukee County Transit, where he rose from bus driver to retire as division supervisor at KK Station — an achievement earned through determination, leadership and a strong work ethic.

A lifelong learner and craftsman, Bill filled his days with a variety of hobbies and pursuits, including scuba diving, treasure hunting, radio-controlled airplanes and wood turning. In addition, he became a master gardener. There was no skill Bill couldn’t teach himself. His DIY spirit and ability enabled him to master any craft he pursued. There was little he couldn’t fix or build himself. He also passed on a love of travel and camping to his children, which he learned from his parents.  

Known for his selflessness and quiet strength, Bill was the kind of man who showed up when others needed help — never asking for recognition, always offering support. He cared deeply for his family and took great pride in their happiness and success.

Bill is survived by his children: son William A. Greymont Jr. (Alyssa) and daughter Tracy Greymont (fiance Darryl Bucholtz); his step-children Michael (Cindy) Goebel, Rick Goebel and Anmarie (Jeff) Markoff; and his beloved grandchildren Claire Chmielewski, Olivia Greymont, Audrey Greymont, Will Greymont, Hayden Goebel, Marcus Goebel, Kyle Goebel, Jason Goebel, Ella Markoff and Hailey Markoff. 

He is also survived by his brother David Greymont and his first wife Susan Kierzek (nee Mueller). 

He was preceded in death by his sister Sally Sundberg and his second wife Nancy Greymont (nee Carroll).

Bill’s legacy is one of quiet service and love for his family and community. He will be missed and always remembered.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025 at 4 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 131 N. Webster St., Port Washington, Wis. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.  

Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Port Washington.
