Well covered

Cedar Grove-Belgium High School’s construction systems class made a new well covering for the building to replace the original from 1999 when the school was built. Technical education teacher Elliott Friedel said his students designed the structure, priced out the materials and applied what they learned about floor, wall and roof systems to build the covering. “Outside of the technical skills required, the students learned how to communicate as a team, delegate tasks and problem solve to manifest their design and vision. It was an impressive effort,” Friedel said. District Buildings and Grounds Director Ben Lukens asked the class to make the covering when school started last fall. Standing with their work before it was recently installed were (from left) seniors Haiden Becker and Harley Stern, junior Michael Schneider and seniors Sam Felsinger and Will Lautenschlaeger.
