Warnings for winter parking violations have started

Village of Belgium Marshal Leon Anzia is preparing for some busy shifts in the next couple of weeks.

Winter parking rules have kicked in.

“The first morning’s usually pretty busy,” Anzia told the Village Board on Nov. 11.

He usually gives warnings the first couple of weeks before issuing tickets. People usually respond within two or three days, he said.

“You gotta remind ’em,” Anzia said.

He said last year he issued nearly 100 warnings on the first morning.

The ordinance took effect on Friday, Nov. 15, and prohibits vehicles from being parked on a street, alley or public right-of-way between 3 and 7 a.m. through March 31.

Anzia said he planned to start issuing warnings on Monday, Nov. 18.
