Volunteers sought at Eghart House in Port
Volunteers are being sought to work at the Judge Eghart House in Port Washington.
People are needed to guide tours through the house and assist with upkeep.
Volunteers will get all the materials they need, including a guide book and training.
Each volunteer is asked to commit four hours a month during June, July and August, leading tours from 1 to 4 p.m. on one Saturday each month during the summer, as well as occasional weekday tours.
Volunteers are also needed to serve as members of the Eghart House board.
The Eghart House at 302 W. Grand Ave. is a Victorian restoration depicting life in Port Washington in the late 1800s. With all contents donated by Port Washington and area residents, the house is a valuable historical resource that has had thousands of visitors since it opened in 1970.
The house is open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
