The Village of Saukville has set its tourism budget at $37,000 for 2020, or $4,500 more than 2019, with spending increases going to community events such as the Saukville Scare 5K Run/Walk, Saukville Chamber of Commerce’s Bags and Brew event, Rendezvous Days and Live at the Triangle outdoor concerts.

The allocations have been approved by Village Board.

The Saukville Scare 5k Run/Walk takes place every fall to raise money for Saukville Elementary School’s free breakfast program.

It received an allocation of $5,500, more than double the 2019 allocation of $2,500.

The Saukville Historical Society requested $8,000 for its Rendezvous Days event and received $5,000, or $500 more than last year. The weekend event, which is scheduled for May 15 to 17, has a budget of $12,000, according to its application.

Rendezvous Days, which is held at Peninsula Park, celebrates Saukville’s origins as an early 1800s trading post. Funds raised at the event help pay for restoring the Crossroads Museum and the 1912 firehouse on Mill Street.

Live at the Triangle’s 2020 allocation was $3,000, up from $2,500 in 2019. The outdoor concert series downtown is held on Wednesdays from June through August.

The July Fourth Fireworks also drew a $5,000 allocation, the same as each of the last two years.

The Saukville Chamber of Commerce’s Bags and Brew tournament received an allocation of $3,000, up from $2,500 in 2019. Money raised goes toward the Chamber’s scholarship program.

Other events receiving funds are:

• Friends of the Saukville Fire Department Car Show on Sept. 13, $3,500, unchanged from last year.

• Ozaukee National Night Out, $500.

• July 4th Parade, $1,000.

Funds are derived from the village room tax.

In addition to funding the events, $9,000 of room tax revenue goes to the village general fund to support municipal operations. According to village guidelines, proposals are judged on their promotional and marketing plans and their impact on the community.

Recipients are required to submit final expense reports along with evidence of their promotional materials after the event.

The Chamber also promotes the events on its website, in newsletters and through social media and the local press.
