The Grafton Village Board agreed last week to sell 10 acres of land that will be part of a 110-house subdivision off Port Washington Road for $300,000.

The board also agreed to rezone 47.6 acres and annex 11 acres of town land for the River Bend Meadows subdivision proposed by Neumann Developments.

“We’re hoping to begin construction, weather permitting, by late May or June,” Neumann Developments project manager Bryan Lindgren said.

Town Chairman Lester Bartel said he understands the development is in the village’s planned growth corridor and won’t oppose the annexation.

Surrounding the proposed four-parcel site are the Falls Crossing subdivision located immediately to the north; Town of Grafton property, I-43 and village-owned land to the east; and a We Energies electrical substation and residential town property to the south.

The land west of the subdivision includes two village lots that total 20 acres. Village plans include a 10-acre park. The remaining land was sold to the developer, Village Community Development Director Jessica Wolff said.

Wolff said the location of the subdivision is critical for the village’s long-range plans for transportation, water and sewer.

Lots in the subdivision will average 12,276 square feet, with a minimum of 10,000 square feet.

Lindgren said the proposed subdivision will be ready for lot purchase and building by fall, with occupancy expected to begin by early 2020. The first phase of the development will connect River Bend Road to Port Washington Road.
