Village to hire recruiter to find new administrator

The Grafton Village Board decided after meeting in a closed session Monday to solicit quotes from executive recruiting agencies, the first step in a search for Village Administrator Jesse Thyes’ replacement.

Thyes, who has served as village administrator since 2016, will leave his job in Grafton on Aug. 5 to assume the same role in West Bend. 

Thyes said last month the village has “unusual depth in staff” and a “cohesive” Village Board that is well equipped to find his replacement.

Village President Dan Delorit said in an interview this week that he hopes to receive three quotes from recruiting firms by the end of this week. Then, Delorit and Trustee Lisa Uribe Harbeck will review the proposals and select two firms to bring to the board at its next meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, July 21, he said. 

Delorit said the board hopes to have the position filled three to four months after hiring an agency.

With Thyes leaving in less than a month, the administrator position will likely be vacant for a considerable amount of time. Delorit said the board will determine who will serve as interim administrator at the next board meeting.
