The Saukville Village Board has voted to assess property owners to pay for street improvements near Tower Street set to begin this spring.

Work is planned on Tower Street from Bucktrout Street to Highway 33 and would include repaving streets, installing corner wheelchair ramps, sidewalks, driveway approaches and curbs and gutters, Public Works Director Ray deBruijn said. The project includes installing storm sewers on West Church Street from Tower Street about 310 feet east.

The estimated cost of the project is about $218,000. The estimated amount to be assessed against properties located in the area is about $14,844.

In January, the village will seek bids for the work, which should begin in early spring, deBruijn said.

A public hearing is tentatively set to be held Jan. 22 on the assessments.
