Village budget increases due to paramedic referendum

The Village of Belgium’s 2025 general fund budget increased by 17% this year, mostly due to the paramedic referendum that was approved by residents on Nov. 5.

The referendum to increase the levy by $149,600 in perpetuity passed by a 2:1 margin.

The Village Board approved the budget on Monday.

The tax levy is $1.12 million, up from this year’s $956,000.

Total revenues are $1.876 million, up from $1.757 million.

No residents attended the annual budget hearing held before the board meeting.
