UW Extension to host annual cattle feeders workshop Feb. 26 in Waldo

The University of Wisconsin Extension will host its annual cattle feeders workshop at Chissy’s Pub & Grill in Waldo on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

This year’s speakers will present information on dairy and beef breed steers.

Garland Dahlke of Iowa State Extension and Iowa Beef Center will discuss controlling costs and efficiencies in the feedlot.

Livestock economist Brenda Boetel of UW-Extension and UW-River Falls will present her outlook for the 2019 market.

Agricultural agent Bill Halfman of Monroe County-Extension will speak on comparing self-feeders to fenceline feeding.

Agricultural agent Adam Hady of Richland and Crawford County-Extension will provide insight on how to successfully sell beef directly to consumers.

Registration and dining will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the program to follow at 6 p.m.

The Saukville Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch & Learn program at noon Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Saukville Police Department.

Port Washington-Saukville School Supt. Michael Weber will present “Successful Aging to Give Yourself and Edge by Using Positive Psychology.”

Lunch will be provided.

The Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce will host a State of the Community Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the River Room on the Milwaukee.

Speakers include Chamber President Bruce McIlnay, Grafton School District Supt. Jeff Nelson, Village President Jim Brunnquell and Town Chairman Lester Bartel.

The speakers will discuss community business growth, school workforce initiatives and upcoming changes that are transforming grafton.

Attendees will enjoy a lunch buffet.
