Treasurer joins Plan Commission

The Village of Belgium Plan Commission is back at full strength.

Village Treasurer Vickie Boehnlein, a former trustee and Village President, was appointed by the Village Board to fill the commission’s lone vacancy last month.

Trustee Clem Gottsacker asked if it was legal for a treasurer to serve on the commission.

Clerk Julie Lesar said the clerk has served in the past, including herself and Kaity Olsen.

Commission member Sarah Hunter moved out of the village, creating an opening on the seven-member panel.

“I knew that there was an opening and said if they didn’t have anyone and needed someone, I was willing,” Boehnlein said.
