Track teams rack up points in busy stretch

Competing with little rest and in different events than normal still yielded third place for the Ozaukee High School girls’ track and field team at the Big East Conference South Division Mini-Meet on Monday at Oostburg.

The Warriors scored 88 points, which was behind Oostburg’s 110 and Sheboygan Lutheran’s 105. Random Lake had 56, Cedar Grove-Belgium had 52 and Kohler had 42.

“The girls competed hard on short rest and with limited entries,” coach Andrew Pfeuffer said, referencing they competed in last Friday’s Oostburg Invite.

Becky Hoffmann won the 100 hurdles in 17.54 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 50.11.

Paige Kurlinski won shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 3 inches, and discus with 82-8. Morgan Kirmse was second in discus with 76-4 and fourth in shot put with 31-7.

Clara McKee was second in the 1,600-meter run in 5 minutes, 53.88 seconds and fifth in the 800 in 2:45.7.

Addison Schubert was third in the 1,600 in 6:11.64, Adeline Utecht was third in shot put with 31-11, and Katlee Steadman was third in discus with 76.

Ieva Juodeikis was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 59.73, and the 1,600 relay of Schubert, McKee, Juodeikis and Nicole Liermann was fourth in 5:03.18.

Liermann was eighth in the 800 in 3:14.21.

For the Rockets, Lyndsay Sass won the 1,600 in 5:44.92 and Alyssa Winter won the 200 in 23.93.

Elise Brill was second in the 400 in 1:07.76, and Winter was fourth in 1:10.07.

Faith Konzak was third in the 800 in 2:43.65, and Hadley Heimermann was fourth in 2:43.79.

Winter was fifth in the long jump with 13-7.

CG-B boys dominate a few events

The Rocket boys scored 74 points and finished fourth. Ozaukee had 53 and was fifth. Oostburg won with 180, followed by Sheboygan Lutheran’s 86 and Kohler’s 74. Random Lake had 39.

Rocket Caleb Beightol won the 100 in 11.63 and the 200 in 23.79. Gabe Egan was second in the 100 in 11.83 and in the 200 in 24.19.

In the 800, Cole Ketterhagen was second in 2:10.39, Jamison Velzke was fourth in 2:13.11 and Mason Hoopman was fifth in 2:15.56.

Egan was second in the high jump with 5-6. Dylan Herrera was third in the long jump with 18-01. David Martinez was third in the 400 in 57.46.

Andrew Strong was fifth in the 300 hurdles in 55.97, and the 1,600 relay of Velzke, Will Huenink, Alex Nett and Michael Kuerschner was fifth in 4:04.77.

Brandon Pfaff was seventh in the triple jump in 34-1.5.

Pfeuffer also switched up the events for the Ozaukee boys.

Owen Klaus won the 800 in 2:04.68, and Austin Lemke won discus with 117-9.

The 3,200 relay of Tyler Mueller, Aaron Nehls, Calvin McKee and Klaus won in 8:42.85.

McKee was second in the 3,200 in 10:53.86. Mueller was third in the 1,600 in 4:50.92. Lemke was fifth in shot put with 35-8.75.

Otto Utecht was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 19.02 and sixth in discus with 100.

Rivals trade places at invite

The Ozaukee and Cedar Grove-Belgium teams swapped places at the Oostburg Invite last Thursday.

The Warrior girls scored 105 points and finished fourth of seven scoring teams, and the boys scored 52 points and finished sixth of nine.

The Rocket boys scored 85.5 points and were fourth, and the girls scored 52 for sixth.

Berlin won the girls meet with 137 points, followed by Oostburg’s 120 and Winnebago Lutheran Academy’s 115.

Oostburg won the boys meet with 165.5 points, followed by Winnebago Lutheran Academy’s 110 and Berlin’s 105.

For the Ozaukee girls, Hoffmann continued her hot streak, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 17.4 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 49.11.

“Becky is starting to find a rhythm again in hurdles and continues to improve her form each outing,” Pfeuffer said.

Clara McKee won the 1,600 in 5:53.76 and was third in the 3,200 in 12:58.02. Her training partner, Schubert, was third in the 800 in 2:49.14 and fifth in the 1,600 in 6:04.95.

Kurlinski won shot put by an inch with a throw of 36-0.5 inches.

Brynn Meyer returned from injury and placed second in triple jump with 30-10 and fourth in long jump with 14-11.

Hannah Bustamante was second in high jump, clearing 4-4.

Kirmse was third in shot put with 33-7.25 and discus with 86-10.

The 1,600 relay of Hoffmann, Juodeikis, Schubert and Liermann was third in 4:54.

Utecht was fourth in shot put with 31-11.25, and Steadman was fifth in discus with 84-10.

“With a small roster, the girls’ team was able to put together some good performances across many events,” Pfeuffer said.

CG-B girls win two events

The Rockets’ 3,200 relay of  Heimermann, Brill, Konzak and Sass won in 10:58.03, and Sass won the 800 in 2:38.58.

Winter was third in the long jump with 14-11 and fourth in the 200 in 29.43.

Heimermann was fourth in the 1,600 in 6:04.83, and Konzak was sixth in 6:05.82.

Jaworski was fourth in the 400 in 1:13.48. Brill was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 54.65.

CG-B boys win trio of events

The Rocket boys won two relays, and Beightol won the 100 in 11.48.

The 800 relay of Egan, Ketterhagen, Ethan Minick and Beightol won in 1:35.95. The 400 relay of Egan, Herrera, Minick and Beightol won in 45.81.

Velzke was second in the 800 in 2:15.46, and Kuerschner was third in 2:18.56. Minick was second in the long jump with 20-01, and Beightol was seventh with 18-10.5.

Egan was third in the high jump with 5-5 and fourth in the 200 in 23.95. Martinez was third in the 400 in 57.57.

The 3,200 relay of Will Huenink, Kuerschner, Velzke and Ketterhagen was fourth in 9:06.72.

Hoopman was fifth in the 1,600 in 5:12.09, and Huenink was seventh in 5:18.27.

Reid Ketterhagen was seventh in the 30 hurdles in 53.28, and Strong was eighth in 53.48. Nett was eighth in the 3,200 in 11:26.99.

The Rockets compete at Valders on Saturday.

Ozaukee dominates a relay

For Ozaukee, the 3,200 relay of  Mueller, Nehls, Calvin McKee and Klaus won by more than nine seconds in 8:38.99.

McKee was second in the 3,200 in 10:13.68, and Klaus was second in the 1,600 in 4:55.14.

Lemke was third in discus with 116-5 and seventh in shot put with 36-7.

Mueller was fifth in the 3,200 in 10:42.36, and Nehls was sixth in 11:06.61. Utecht was fifth in the 300 hurdles in 49.05, seventh in discus with 101-7 and eighth in the 110 hurdles in 19.68.

Riley Borchardt was eighth in the 800 in 2:28.1.

“Our boys did well in their first outdoor invite of the season. It was good to see them compete hard against some quality opponents and get into an invite atmosphere again,” Pfeuffer said.

The Warriors compete in the Glen Funk Invitational at Kohler on Friday.
